Growth, single-crystal structure, and magnetic properties of the double molybdate KYb(MoO4)2

Crystals of the rare earth double molybdate KYb(MoO4)2 were grown by spontaneous nucleation from a K2Mo4O13 flux. The typical crystals colorless and elongated, well-developed plates. material has been characterized powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS), Raman spectroscopy methods. structural properties have investigated through single-crystal at room temperature. crystallizes in orthorhombic symmetry, space group Pbcn (No. 60), = 5.0395(2), b 18.2821(9), c 7.8635(4) Å, Z 4. A complete ordering Yb3+ Mo6+ cations found. ions are located distorted YbO8 antiprisms which form chains edge-sharing, aligned along c-axis while placed slightly deformed tetrahedral environment oxygen atoms. Double bridge modes “Mo2O8 dimers” identified unpolarized spectra. temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility follows Curie–Weiss law with Weiss constant −52 K.
